Innovative Solutions Save Customers Time & Money
Legacy Electrical Services, Inc. performed electrical design and construction services for the Bearon Manufacturing facility in Landisville, PA. The building has a steel structure with a block and metal siding exterior. Legacy installed underslab conduits and aluminum feeders for panel feeds throughout the building to help expedite the schedule and as a cost saving option for the customer. Legacy also utilized an innovative conduit racking system for the overhead feeds to the more than 75 machines in the facility. This racking system contributed to a faster start-up process for the customer as Legacy was able to quickly provide power to the machines as they were moved into place. Legacy coordinated closely with the customer and the general contractor throughout the construction and turn-over process to ensure that the facility met the highly detailed and specific needs of the customer.
Legacy utilized a combination of innovative software technology and time-tested onsite progress meetings and inspections to ensure quality and safe work practices were maintained throughout the course of the project. A cloud-based project management tool enabled constant communication between the field and the office. This software tool allowed all aspects of the project to be logged and tracked on one convenient platform allowing the on-site foreman to maintain up to date records of job progress, facilitate smooth coordination, and expose any possible workflow obstacles. Daily job progress reports and pictures were posted through a mobile device application so the project manager always has a current view of project status.
Legacy also utilized this digital platform to track labor hours for maximum efficiency. The mobile device application includes a time clock feature which all field personnel use to track their work hours. This data can then be used by the project manager to monitor all aspects of labor efficiency to make sure that the project stays on track and under budget.
Legacy took extra steps to maintain safe work practices on the Bearon project. In conjunction with the use of standard PPE during work performance, weekly jobsite safety meetings were held throughout the course of this project. In these meetings, safety concerns and issues were discussed among the field personnel and any deficiencies were corrected immediately. Also, weekly site safety inspections were conducted by Legacy’s safety director.
